“Well, I am a bit of Tube nerd’. Meet Jonathan. Next month he will be taking on the Tube Challenge in aid of SCT. What is the Tube Challenge we hear you ask?

“I’m going to travel through every single one of the 270 tube stations in one day. I can only use public transport, so that’s buses and trains – and my running legs!

I’ve wanted to do this for years, but I also wanted to raise money for SCT while doing it. I’ve been coming to the SCT quiz for years and have a deeper connection with SCT than some of the national charities.”

Big thanks Jonathan! We appreciate it.

So whilst the Guinness World Record for the Tube Challenge stands at 15 hours, 45 minutes , Jonathan will not be trying to beat this. “People usually beat the record after more than one attempt. I’ll be happy if I do under 17.5 hours. The thing is that a lot of it’s down to luck. A delayed train can throw everything out.”

For the last few months Jonathan has been plotting his route, poring over maps and train timetables to identify potential connections.

He’ll be starting with the first train on Friday morning 18th March from Chesham station on the Metropolitan line and ending at Heathrow Terminal 5 on the Piccadilly line.

He told us that he’s planning to run part of the challenge. “At the end of the Jubilee line I’ll get off at Stanmore station and run across to Edgware station where I can jump onto the top of the Northern line. I’ll be making about ten connections on foot.”

We just love this challenge!  Jonathan is hoping to raise £1000 for SCT.

So how will he prove he’s gone to every station? “I’ll be taking photos and will keep a log and ask people to sign it regularly at whatever station I’m in. I’ll also be logging the train numbers.”
