In March, a team from Nationwide took on our infamous Charity Shop Challenge.
Men donned dresses, tea was made, copious biscuits were consumed and lots of money was raised so that we can continue to provide our services for the homeless and people in recovery from addiction,
Mike Coffey, our Community Fundraiser explains: “The idea of the challenge is to boost the daily income of an SCT charity shop by doing various activities”.
Shop challenge participant Marie told us “My husband’s work supports SCT quite a lot. He told me about it and took me to Paper & Cup one Saturday afternoon, and it was the best coffee I ever had. It’s so good!”

“We wanted to do something for a local charity so I sent Mike an email and we had a few chats and everyone said this sounds like a great idea.”
Simon Smith said “I’ve been dressed up, I’ve been posing out of the window scaring people but also making them smile. I’ve been trying to get people’s attention and offer them tea and cake.
“We sent our boss out dressed in accessories and a dress and go around to our branches and not to come back until he’s sold everything,” said participant Natalie.

Matt (the boss) explains; “I went into all of our local branches and sold items of clothes to the teams…we even got some donations for the shop as well.
I managed to sell all the clothes apart from the dress – which I had to wear on the tube coming back.
When I was dressed up fully with all the gear I didn’t feel too uncomfortable, it was quite funny. Just wearing a dress was fairly embarrassing. A new side of me came out today.”
