SCT has partnered with Shoreditch designer to launch an exclusive bag for SCT supporters.
For as little as £12 a month, anyone can now become a Recovery Champion and receive a limited-edition Ally Capellino Recovery Tote bag hand printed by people in recovery from addiction.
Born out of a case of leftover fabric, the SCT and Ally Capellino collaboration seized on an opportunity to re-purpose beautiful waxed cotton fabric for a good cause.
The bags come in two colours and are made of waxed cotton and feature a vegetable tanned leather handle.
Our students and residents hand finished the bags as part of a screen-printing workshop hosted by nearby Jealous Gallery, who work with legendary artists such as David Shrigley and the Chapman Brothers.
“I loved the opportunity to see how screen-printing works and the work that goes into it. Thank you SCT and Jealous Gallery,” said one SCT student about taking part in the collaboration.
Ally noticed that she had a great deal of leftover fabric and saw a chance to reuse the fabric to help SCT combat homelessness and addiction.
SCT and Ally have been working together for over 10 years.
Ally raises funds for SCT through her regular sample sales, and has generously donated the ‘Ally Capellino for Tate’ aprons to the students of SCT’s social enterprise, Restoration Station, to work in.
Over the years, the students have also helped restore some of our window and showroom display props.
SCT CEO, Steve Coles, said: “We are incredibly proud to be part of this amazing collaboration with our long-term supporter Ally Capellino. Just a stone’s throw away from our Recovery Hub, Ally has been a phenomenal neighbour.
“And now she has really taken her generosity to another level. The Recovery Tote will go a long way in helping us tackle homelessness and addiction in East London.
“Each bag helps raise vital funds that help house and support people facing significant challenges. We believe we can transform lives by helping each person holistically – from housing and mental health to training and community. All in all, we owe Ally a big thank you!”
Every year we support over 600 people to start a life free from drink and drugs.
Each Ally Capellino Recovery Tote will go towards helping someone along their recovery journey and giving them the chance of a more fulfilling life.
