SCT’s annual report is a review of the financial year 2020-21, and includes a summary of our financial statements.
This reporting period has almost entirely been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and this report tells the story of SCT during a very unusual year.
Nonetheless, this year we’ve had so many wonderful highlights.
Our drop-in ran 54 sessions and the centre was attended 539 times. The team also launched our new Housing First project which housed 8 people in the first 9 months.
At Acorn House, we welcomed 39 new residents, and 48% achieved continuous abstinence for six months after entering the programme. The first few months of lockdown were the hardest: between the first and second quarter, the relapse rate dropped from 40% to 33%, and the rate of 6 months in recovery grew from 38% to 48%.
Our training and development centre ran 137 classes, including woodwork, art, digital skills, gardening, and literacy.
With new leadership and several new staff members joining during the pandemic, our fundraising team performed better than any previous year in SCT’s history, raising twice as much as was forecast at the start of the year.
Our retail team had over 50 volunteers. We also opened our first ‘concept’ charity shop in Hackney and launched our new community coffee shop at Paper & Cup in Shoreditch.
This report also shares students’ and residents’ stories of recovery during lockdown, and the increasing importance of support services in the aftermath of the pandemic.
We couldn’t have done all of this without the amazing support from our funders and the incredible hard work of our Trustees, volunteers, staff, and the rest of our community.
