The Reality Behind Homelessness and Addiction: A Campaign Inspired by True Experiences
More than 4,200 people have been seen rough sleeping in London in the first quarter of 2024. The homelessness crisis is rapidly growing, and it’s easy to become desensitised to its harsh realities when we’re seeing more and more people forced to live on the streets. Our campaign seeks to humanise this issue by sharing the experiences of those affected, reminding us that behind the statistics are real people—sons, mothers, chefs, entrepreneurs, and friends.
The experiences we’re sharing are from men who have successfully completed SCT’s six-month therapeutic programme at Acorn House and are now in established long-term recovery, actively contributing to our community and living inspiring lives beyond homelessness and addiction.
This campaign aims to break misconceptions about homelessness and addiction by revealing the complex truths behind it. Did you know that 86% of people experiencing homelessness have faced severe childhood trauma? Furthermore, the intertwining of addiction, mental health, and homelessness highlights the urgent need for understanding and empathy in addressing this crisis.
The responsibility belongs to all of us, and we need your help to spread awareness. Please like, comment, and share our social media content to help us reach as many people as possible. If you’re not already following us, be sure to connect with us on social media to stay updated and engaged.
By sharing these experiences, we hope to inspire a collective responsibility to challenge the stigma surrounding homelessness and addiction.
