Once you have left gifts for family and friends, would you consider leaving a gift in your will to help those in recovery from addiction and homelessness to rebuild their lives?

By leaving a gift, we want to make sure you feel comfortable and happy about the decision, so these are our promises to you:

• We will handle your gift efficiently and with the utmost care and sensitivity to ensure it can do the greatest good.
• If you have decided to leave a gift in your Will and want to let us know, we’d love to thank you. However, if you wish to remain anonymous, we respect that as your Will is personal to you.
• If you would like your gift to fund a specific area of work, you can always put this in your Will and we will make sure your wish is respected, where possible.

SCT's free Will service

With our trusted partners makeawillonline.co.uk, we offer a free online Will writing service. All completed wills are then checked by a specialist solicitor.

If you decide to use the make a Will online website to create your Will, SCT will not receive a copy of that document. However, details of your legacy gift will be shared with us including your name, your contact details, the amount of the legacy and the date you made the Will. If you would prefer to make a Will and leave a legacy to us without sharing this information you can do so by paying to make the Will directly.

If you already have a Will…

If you do already have a Will and want to leave a gift to us then please contact your solicitor and let them know your intentions. You can then work with them to either make a new will or attach an additional codicil. This is a short document which is added to your original Will and would explain that you would like to include a gift to SCT.

If you don’t have a Will…

If you haven’t already made a Will you can make one and leave a gift of a specific amount of money or a proportion of your estate to us and other charities.

People who leave more than 10% of their estate to charity receive inheritance tax benefits. If your estate is liable for inheritance tax we suggest you speak to your solicitor to discuss making a Will and leaving a gift to us. If you don’t have a solicitor, you can search for one.

If you have complicated needs in your Will, for example: dependent relatives, property overseas, trust income or ongoing legal issues, we suggest you speak to a solicitor.
