Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle Hillery as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees.

Danielle has served on SCT’s Board for two years and has a deep commitment to the organisation’s mission, vision, and culture, and shares a determination to ensure more people can find a life beyond homelessness and addiction.

Her professional background spans homelessness, supported housing, addiction recovery, criminal justice, and services for people with complex needs. This breadth of experience gives her strong insight into organisational performance and accountability, safeguarding, and risk management.

Commenting on her appointment, Louisa Snow, SCT Chief Executive Officer, said:

“We’re delighted that Danielle has agreed to step into the role of Chair of Trustees. Her leadership approach is grounded in collaboration, transparency, and shared purpose. As Chair, she is committed to strengthening governance, supporting the Senior Leadership Team, and ensuring SCT maintains a clear focus on integrity, accountability, and strategic direction as it enters its next chapter.”

Danielle succeeds Philip Young, who steps down after 12 years as Chair and an outstanding 20 years of service to the charity. During his tenure, Philip provided exceptional leadership and steady guidance, helping SCT navigate significant challenges while remaining firmly rooted in its vision, mission, and values. SCT extends its heartfelt thanks to Philip for his unwavering commitment and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

SCT and its board of Trustees warmly welcome Danielle to this important role and look forward to working with her to build on the organisation’s rich history and secure a strong, future-proofed foundation for the years ahead.
