Spitalfields Crypt Trust

Our work began in 1965, when we ran a soup kitchen and night shelter for homeless alcoholic men from the crypt of Christ Church, Spitalfields.

Fast forward to today and we’re almost unrecognisable outwardly, though our heart is the same.We run an addiction treatment centre, personal development and training services for people in recovery alongside a number of social enterprises. Our pioneering approach embodies best-practise around addiction recovery by treating the whole person and their needs.

Since we began, SCT’s work has been inspired and motivated by Christian faith and values. The life and teaching of Jesus is characterised by love – a love which is honest and challenging, accepting and healing. That love is reflected in SCT’s services.
We are committed to working with people of any faith or none, and to helping them at their point of immediate need.

As for the future, our vision is a society where anyone with drug or alcohol addictions and complex needs can transform their life.
